Huami's latest Amazfit GTR series is undoubtedly one of the most successful of the Chinese smartwatch manufacturer. Just yesterday we also reported on the presentation of the new variant from 42mm who keeps company with his older brother released a few weeks earlierAmazfit GTR 47mm.
Now, despite the two wearables are among the best around, as we have seen during our review, both the Amazfit GTR 47mm and the 42mm lack one of the most requested features on a smartwatch: the Always-On Display.
Amazfit GTR updated, now with Always-On Display
Well, as we can see from the image above, the brand seems to have solved this only real flaw in the series in a software update. The update has added the option to activate the Always-On Display among the settings of the internal menu.
For the less practical in terms of smartwatch (or smartphones that support it), we remind you that the Always-On Display function allows you to keep the screen always on and therefore always have the possibility to check the time and other info when you want, without having to raise the arm or press buttons. The AoD technology makes it possible to activate a portion of the screen, while all the other pixels remain off, saving energy and decreasing battery consumption.
This feature works perfectly on the Amazfit GTR series as a smartwatch with AMOLED display. In particular we have an AMOLED panel from 1,39 inches on the Amazfit GTR 47mm with 454 x 454 resolution, while the smallest watch with 42mm case has a 1,20 ″ screen and 390 x 390 resolution.
Finally, remember that among other features in common we find waterproofing up to 5ATM, GPS + GLONASS for very accurate position tracking, a pressure sensor and a BioTracker PPG for 24 hourly heart rate monitoring on 24 without any interruption.
