Amazon is committed to provide free AI training to 2 million people by 2025. Their new commitment, known as “Amazon AI Ready“, aims to make AI education accessible to anyone with the desire to learn. This effort includes starting new initiatives for adults and young students and expanding the free AI training programs already existing.
The Amazon AI Ready project: a promise for the future of work
The initiative provides eight new free courses on AI and generative AI, as well as an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Scholarship for more than 50.000 high school and college students globally. Plus, a new collaboration with Code.org look at introduce students to generative AI. These efforts are crucial as the AWS survey reveals that 73% of employers consider hiring talent with AI skills a priority, although three in four find it difficult to source the necessary talent.

The goal of Amazon AI Ready is to help leveling the AI training playing field, with the support of new initiatives. Amazon also wants to scale its current free AI training programs and courses, continuing to eliminate cost as a barrier to accessing these critical skills.
Training will include courses ranging from the basics of AI to advanced techniques, intended for both business leaders and technicians. Courses will explore topics such as prompt engineering for generative AI tools andLow-code machine learning on AWS. Additionally, Amazon will partner with Code.org to introduce students to generative AI through hands-on activities such as “Hour of Code Dance Party: AI Edition".
In parallel, Amazon will continue its commitment to investing in cloud skills training, with the aim of train 29 million people by 2025. This commitment highlights the importance of AI in the future of work and the impact it can have in addressing global economic and social challenges.
