What's new in Android 14

The future Android 14 update will introduce a new restriction that will make it impossible for users to install outdated software on devices. The change will affect not only apps on the Google Play Store, but also APK files from external sources. Initially, the rule will only apply to applications designed for very old versions such as Jelly Bean, but in the future there are plans to extend the restriction to Android 6.0 and later. However, the final word on restrictions will rest with the device manufacturer.

Android 14 will introduce numerous new features including a improved share menu. Google has fixed the inconsistency of the “Share” menu with the Project Mainline module. The next update will offer a single viewing window for sending content regardless of smartphone model and software. Also, the new operating system will allow for update important system certificates separately for a secure connection between the device and sites or some utilities. This will make it possible for obsolete devices to access the Internet without the need for a full software update.

Android 14 will also bring the Health Connect program, which will allow convenient exchange of information between fitness utilities, such as MyFitnessPal, Samsung Health, FitBit and Google Fit. Finally will introduce the support for satellite communications, similar to the iPhone 14. This option will provide satellite communications in hard-to-reach places where the cellular network signal is weak.
