Like many other smartphone manufacturers, ASUS is also working on its next generation smartphone with Qualcomm's latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 888, on board.
ASUS ROG Phone 5 caught on Geekbench with Snapdragon 888

The smartphone in question would have just been caught on the popular Geekbench benchmarking platform with model numbers ASUS_I005DA and ASUS_I005DB and codenamed Lahaina, like the island of Hawaii.
In any case, ASUS's next gaming phone should theoretically be called the Asus ROG Phone 4, although many sources suggest a jump from the ASUS ROG Phone 3 to the ROG Phone 5 is more likely for two main reasons: the first is that the number 4 in China is seen as an unfortunate number as it sounds like the word "death" in Chinese; second, the previous ROG 3 came with the model number ASUS_I003DA. As we have just seen, the new smartphone has the model “ASUS_I005FROM".
Returning to the benchmark, this says nothing about the smartphone's specifications, but at least we see that the ROG Phone 5 will go to equip 8 GB of RAM in one of the options and that it will run with Android 11 as the operating system.
Now we just have to find out if the smartphone will adopt a totally new design or if it will be similar to its predecessors.
