Black Shark 3 Pro uses an OLED display manufactured by BOE

The new Black Shark series presented on March 3, 2020 which includes the Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro brought the first gaming smartphones equipped with 5G technology to the market for the first time, thus allowing mobile gamers to be able to use the most fast wherever you are (if present, of course).

In addition to the new generation connection, one of the most important features on a smartphone is the display. We speak both as regards the type, AMOLED or IPS, the size, the resolution, the maximum brightness and even the panel manufacturer.

Well, apparently this last detail has been kept hidden by the brand specifically for the Pro version. We know since the presentation that the Black Shark 3 base adopts a display produced by Samsung, while in the technical sheet there was no info on the screen of the Black Shark 3 Pro.

Today, the Korean media have finally managed to discover that the smartphone actually adopts a completely different flexible OLED panel produced by the BOE brand. For those who do not know it, BOE Technology is a Chinese company specialized in the production of components and one of the largest manufacturers of smartphone displays in the world.

Moreover, contrary to what you might think (if you have prejudices), BOE produces very high quality displays, both IPS and OLED. So good that we will find them even on some Apple iPhones that will be announced in this 2020.

Returning to the Black Shark 3 Pro, here we find a large 7,1-inch diagonal display, 2k + (3120 × 1440) resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch frequency. We also have support for MEMC motion compensation, the functionality to accurately press multiple buttons on the screen (version 3.0), a 10-bit color depth, HDR10 + certification and DC functionality to reduce low-brightness flicker. In terms of color accuracy, however, there is a Delta E lower than 1 and a JNCD lower than 0,55, so let's talk about a screen with more than accurate colors.

Furthermore, the Korean media also claim that the screen comes from the “BOE B7” production line, which is the same production line that will supply the displays for the Huawei P40 series.

Finally, the report suggests that Samsung's external supply for Black Shark 2 and 3 series, along with Huawei's P40 series, is for OCTA technology panels. BOE is currently working to improve this technology too so that it can compete with Samsung in that market share as well.
