Protect your privacy online with Brave - the new Forgetful Browsing feature

Ever wanted to browse the web without leaving any traces of what you do? A half "patch" is to use incognito mode. But on a higher level? Brave, the privacy-focused browser, has announced a new feature that can fulfill this wish: forgetful Browsing. This innovation was designed to offer even more reliable protection of our personal data by preventing websites from recognizing us when we visit them again.

Track No More: How Brave helps us keep our personal data safe

But how exactly does Forgetful Browsing work? When this feature is enabled, the Brave browser will automatically delete all of our user identities, including cookies, localStorage, indexedDB, HTTP and DNS cache, as soon as we close all tabs associated with a particular site. Furthermore, if we have previously logged in to a site, Brave will automatically log you out of your account. This way, every time we visit the site, we will come considered as a completely new user, protecting us from creating a “personal portrait” based on our data.

It is important to note that due to this feature, all counters on websites will be reset, including materials read, video viewing progress, and more. Therefore, on sites that offer a limited number of free items, the counter will reset with each visit.

The good news is that Forgetful Browsing will available in the desktop version of the Brave browser with the 1.53 update and in the Android version with the 1.54 update. The feature will be enabled by default, but users will have the option to disable it in the settings, thus giving you complete control over your browsing experience. With Brave and the new Forgetful Browsing feature, we will finally be able to enjoy web browsing without worrying about leaving unwanted traces.

With an increasing number of cybersecurity threats and personal data breaches, preserving your online privacy becomes essential. Privacy protection allows you to avoid unwanted tracking, identity theft, spam and unauthorized access to your personal information. Additionally, preserving online privacy promotes freedom of expression, confidentiality of communications, and control over the information shared.
