The lack of chips is driving the industry into a vicious circle

La shortage of chips it is a phenomenon that we will carry with us until 2022, according to industry sources. But this date must not represent a goal to be achieved as if it were the flag of a game. Complications are around the corner and the situation is becoming more serious than it already is. Based on what we learn from Nikkei Asia, the chip making industries are entering a stalemate. The reason is simple: there are no processors to produce the machines that produce the processors themselves.

The paradox of paradoxes: the lack of chips is leading industries to get bogged down. The prospects are not rosy

According to industry sources, the chip crisis it has also invested those who should be on the front line to overcome the crisis itself. The factories. These are unable to move forward in the work. The goal of the major states, including Europe, is to increase production exponentially. In the case of Europe it was said that perhaps this step is not the best, at least right now. But still the reality is that it is not possible to produce.

In other words, a vicious circle: Increasing the production of microcircuit manufacturing equipment is hampered by the shortage of microcircuits themselves. THE delivery time for some fundamental tools they are increased to 12 months or more. This is blocking production capacity expansion plans. As we know, the global component shortage is already affecting some of the largest chip buyers in the world, including Apple and Samsung Electronics.

There are four machines that are used for the production and sale of the so-called wafer:

  • die cutters: the waiting time for these machines ranges from 5 to 8 months
  • tests: the machines that are used to test the microchips themselves take the same amount of time
  • welding machines: the waiting period for such machines has increased to 10-12 months
  • drilling rigs: laser machines whose delivery will be delayed by at least 12 months
