Xiaomi smartphones arrive on the market with the famous and beloved MIUI ROM, a heavily modified version of Android. Although this ROM appeals to many users, some prefer to install custom ROMs on their device. If you fall into this category and own a Xiaomi Redmi 1S, we have good news for you.
Some members of the Spanish website HTCMania they are in fact working on a port of the famous CyanogenMod 11 for the Redmi 1S. Unlike other products of the Redmi / Hongmi series, this model is equipped with a chipset made by Qualcomm, so creating custom ROMs is a simpler operation.
At present the ROM guarantees the correct functioning of a good part of the system, but there are still several problems to solve. For example, the management of networks, the recognition of the SIM and the IMEI code works, but the pin code is not correctly requested. Also with regard to the audio sector and the display there are problems to solve, but the developers are solving one problem after another.
At the end of the work, or at least in the final stages, the ROM could be a good alternative to the XIAomi MIUI.
