Recently, some commercial data have been published by IDC Asia showing how suddenly the rise of Xiaomi in the smartphone industry has been. As you can see from the following picture, in 2011 both Xiaomi and Vivo and Oppo parted from a market share of 0, as they had just been founded (at least the Xiaomi smartphone division, as it was already active in the world of modding Android for a year already).
In the first two years the growth was very fast, arriving to conquer the 5% of market share in a market dominated by Huawei. It's strange that in Apple 2013 it has touched its historical minima in China while Xiaomi has its highest (at that time). The real explosion (metaphorically speaking) of Xiaomi however occurred during the 2013 - 2014 year, with a leap from 5% of market share up to 13%.
Over the last year, growth has been at the level of the early years, bringing it to the top with the 15%. Huawei's resume has begun to rise steadily, a sign that he has no intention of giving up on the home market. The same level of growth in the same same period also had Apple.
In short, considering that the Chinese market is one of the most important in the world, these numbers confirm that the California giant Apple is always at the top of the charts but that above, for the time being, both Huawei and Xiaomi resist. Of course, Apple and Huawei have their presence in many other markets, which Xiaomi is trying to imitate, however, focusing on emerging markets such as India, Brazil and Africa.
