The past September 20th, Xiaomi in collaboration with Huami has released one new AmazFit smartband, of which we talked to you in our previous article. But now we want to show you some images of what could be the actual heir of the 2 Mi Band, which already starts with the display with some interesting features such as the ability to display up to 56 characters repeating the classic 10 of rival bands.
Precisely the AmazFit smartband display is an 1,23 inch type IPS LCD unit covered with a glass Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and workmanship 2.5D in order to preserve the appearance of any scratches or small accidental bumps. There is also one oleophobic treatment in order to preserve the display from possible fingerprints.
At the bottom of the display we find a small touch button which allows you to turn on the display as well as interact with the menus offered by the AmazFit smartband. The casing profile is made of 316L stainless steel which guarantees robustness and solidity to the band in general. There is one heart rate monitor sensor which is located at the back of the case.
The Huami company also stated that the same technology used for iPhone X was adopted as regards the display glass protection, namely physical vapor deposition (PVD), a common method for the deposition of thin films under vacuum, a very widespread technique for the manufacture of electronic devices, but also widely used for example for the manufacture of mirrors obtained by depositing a thin layer of aluminum on a glass plate.
Of course the AmazFit smartband will be supported by a proprietary application and will be able to monitor physical activity, steps, calorie consumption, heart rate and sleep with support to 'waterproof up to 50 meters being able to take advantage of the band even during the swimming activity (it is not clear if the application also monitors this activity by measuring the strokes made in the water).
The battery should guarantee up to 12 days of use continuous while charging is entrusted to a USB cable with magnetic attachment that recharges the device in approximately 2,5 hours. Sales price of 299 yuan, about 38 euro, definitely great for a band with such functionality, although we really would have expected bigger news. We just have to wait for it to be able to test it in order to evaluate the differences as well,AmazFit Bip of which we propose our video review.
