LiFi is the new standard for internet that is 100 times faster than WiFi

This standard marks a significant milestone for the LiFi market, as it provides a globally recognized framework for the deployment of LiFi technology.

The future of connectivity is bright

The LiFi uses the light spectrum to transmit data, delivering a faster, more reliable wireless connection with unprecedented security. The Working Group on Luminous Communications 802.11bb was formed in 2018, chaired by pureLiFi and supported by Fraunhofer HHI, two companies that have been at the forefront of LiFi development efforts. Both organizations aim to see one rapid adoption and interoperability not only among LiFi providers, but also with WiFi technologies, thanks to these standardization efforts.

LiFi: speed, security and reliability

The new generation connection also offers a number of advantages over traditional connections. First of all, the speed: LiFi can reach transmission speed up to 224GB/s, much faster than WiFi. Also, the line-of-sight propagation of light improves security by preventing penetration through walls, reducing the risk of interference and eavesdropping. Finally, LiFi offers a greater reliability thanks to the exclusive use of the optical spectrum, which reduces latency and jitter.

With the release of the IEEE 802.11bb standard, ultra-fast internet is now poised to take its place in the wireless communications market, delivering unprecedented speed, security and reliability to users around the world. It is worth mentioning that Oppo has been thinking about integrating this technology since 2020.
