Yesterday, somewhat surprisingly, Google launched in Italy its first chatbot powered by artificial intelligence. Its name is Google Bard and it promises, for now, to act as a direct challenger to the OpenAI chatbot Chat GPT. At the moment it is still too early to evaluate its performance in daily use for an average user or for a company, but it is possible to recognize 5 things Google Bard does that ChatGPT doesn't. As we mentioned yesterday, users can also customize Bard's responses by choosing their favorite styles. For example, you can specify that the chatbot's responses are simpler, shorter, longer, more professional, or different from time to time. So far, this option only works with English, but Google promises to add support for other languages. In this regard, it is fair to remember that the Google Bard chatbot also speaks the Italian language.
In addition, it became possible to block chats with the bot and change their names to easily return to them. You can also share these conversations with other users. Especially for programmers, Google has added the ability to export the generated Python code to the Replit service. But having said that: what are 5 things that Google Bard does that ChatGPT still doesn't do?
- consultation of websites: unlike ChatGPT, the Google chatbot is capable natively (without plugins) of surf online and then search the net and read links. Obviously, we need to be careful and as we often repeat, we need to check the sources. It is not excluded that the chatbot has sudden hallucinations and says boos for fiascos. This feature for ChatGPT is only available with the Premium plan and using plugins;
- multimodality: a feature that makes Google Bard unique is its ability to "travel" on multiple channels. In what sense? While ChatGPT is theoretically multimodal but does not natively allow reading, upload and download images, Bard has this feature
- communication styles: through special buttons, Google Bard allows you to set the tone and style of the conversation as a preset with which we want to interact with him or with which he has to create an output. We have the ability to produce simple, long, short, casual and professional styles.
- vocality: another feature that makes Bard “superior” to ChatGPT is the possibility of lread the answers aloud. With the OpenAI chatbot this is not possible but it is instead possible to talk to it through Google Chrome extensions;
- exportFinally, you can use an answer from Bard for create a draft in Gmail o export it to Docs. In addition to this, we can create code to export directly to another program such as Replit.
