After the end of the unplanned OnePlus One presentation, we can not turn our attention to the event that was held at the same time as held at the MasterCard Center in Beijing and organized by Xiaomi. Those who hoped for the Xiaomi MIPad or why not in Xiaomi MI3S was not satisfied, Lei Jun has unveiled 3 new products: MI Router, MI Router Mini and Xiaomi Box.
First of all we want to present the device that has been so much speculated in recent days. Many alluded to a possible PC Xiaomi, given the similarity with the Apple Magic TrackPad, or a Lenovo Yoga style tablet ... none of this, that device or better, "that unexpected device" to mention the last leaked image teaser , it's a router. Rather, the 802.11ac router cheaper than the market, dual-band e sold only to 129 ¥ (about 15 €), whose name is MI Router Mini.
The other router, the MI Router, which we saw already last December, comes equipped with 256MB of DDR3 RAM and 1TB of HDD, which makes it usable also as media storage. Xiaomi promises that its speed and signal reception is better than almost all routers on the market; the technology on which it is based is “beamforming”, already chosen by other (few) producers in the past, but which has remained fairly anonymous. Sold in a very fine wooden box for ¥ 699 (about 112 €).
The last device presented was the MI Box "enanched edition"(Improved version). They could have called it MI Box 2, given the steps forward compared to the previous version. To begin with, it now includes 4K Ultra-HD support (the standard Mi Box is Full-HD), to power it we find a 1,5Ghz quad-core CPU instead of a 2Ghz dual-core CPU, the RAM becomes 2GB. The storage space remains 4GB but now it can be expanded up to 64GB, there is 802.11ac Wi-Fi support and both the weight and the size have been reduced, if you are also attentive to the details of line. The price? Only 399 ¥ (about 46 €).
Lei Jun also took the opportunity to officially present the new domain mi.com, cost the beauty of 3,6 million Dollars, and announce the next steps in the business expansion that will lead Xiaomi to preside over the markets of Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and later Russia, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico .
