Roaming: Europe makes a decision but it is not final

Il roaming it is that service that allows national operators to bring their tariffs to the land of other countries while maintaining (more or less) the original cost. This is what it should be, with some minor tweaks based on individual operators. There are those who do not want it and there are those who think it is necessary for a freer market. Good, the European Union has expressed itself in this sense and he made a decision which, however, is not a definitive "free all". Let's see why.

The issue of roaming in Europe takes a step forward: green light until 2032, but for that year we have to decide what to do

The European Parliament, in agreement with the Member States of the European Union, has decided that the roaming will be free on the continent until 2032. The original proposal was the one presented by Margrethe Vestager, Danish policy of the Radical Left. You supported the hypothesis of extending the expiry of the current rules until 2031. Basically, no real decision has been taken, but it has only been postponed the problem. A rather Italian dynamic if we want, but which apparently has not seen a real agreement between the countries.

As we said, the principle of operation of the roaming in Europe it is the following: all users can use their national tariff also in another country of the European Union. This, however, will involve some minor tweaks. It is understood that such remodeling only concerns traffic Internet (the GB of our tariff). Nothing changes for calls and SMS.

As regards the 5G? The technology in question will remain one of the horses of the economy of the future and for this reason Europe promises that there will be no remodeling of any kind in this sense. Margrethe Vestager, executive vice president of "Europe Fit for the Digital Age", he has declared:

We have enjoyed the end of roaming charges since 2017. And today, we've made sure we can keep these benefits for another 10 years to stay in touch and call, text and surf the internet at no extra cost when we travel to the EU. At the same time, with this new regulation we are also improving the quality of the roaming experience
