Over the years we have told you a good part of the developments of the Huami company, known for its wearables placed on the market with the AmazFit brand. This company has been able to create its own identity, detaching itself from Xiaomi, which still remains behind the scenes in terms of commercial strategy, and over time has been able to get involved enough to offer its shares on the stock exchange.
Despite the successes that continue to be present also in this dramatic 2020, unfortunately for Huami there has been a change of management as the co-founder and senior vice president withdrew from the board of directors and the various investors also followed him. di Xiaomi withdrew by reducing the company's share capital from around 3018 million yuan to around 1667 million yuan, bringing a reduction rate of nearly 45%.
Xiaomi investors withdraw from Huami's IPO: could Mi Band 5 mark the end of the collaboration between the two companies?
The reason for this choice is unclear, considering that for the whole year of 2019, Huami achieved a 59,4% increase in turnover compared to the previous year, obtaining a gain of 5,8 billion yuan, or approximately $ 835 million. Huang Wang, founder, president and CEO of Huami Technology, previously said that the collaboration with Xiaomi would continue and that within the year we would see the launch of the new Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
But could this managerial change and the detachment by some Xiaomi investors, therefore, jeopardize the launch of the future queen of wearables? Probably not, also because the Mi Band 5 more than ever will need the support of Huami, since there are rumors of the integration of a sensor dedicated to blood saturation. Having said that, it is possible, however, that the Mi Band 5 itself marks the end of the collaboration between Huami and Xiaomi.
