How to delete multiple emails on Gmail with the “Select All” button

Gmail for Android has finally welcomed an update long awaited by users: the “select all” functionality. This innovation fills an important gap, allowing you to mark and then select all emails at once, facilitating operations such as deletion, archiving or recategorization.

The introduction of this option was long overdue. Indications of the update had already emerged in September, when some hidden flags were discovered indicating that Google was working on this innovation. TO October, some users reported having noticed the function during testing, although not linked to a specific version of the app and dependent on changes at the server level, probably linked to the account.

With the new "select all" function, simply activate it press and hold an email or tap the sender's avatar to select an individual conversation. At that point, the “select all” option will appear at the top of the screen. An important detail is that "select all" does not necessarily mean selecting every single email present in the account: at the current moment, the functionality selects all the emails displayed on the page, with a default limit of 50 emails per page.

Due to the infinite scroll nature of Gmail for Android, if the user were to scroll down after selecting all emails, you may find additional unselected emails that load later. However, if you scroll to the bottom before using “select all”, you can mark all those currently displayed.
