A cheaper Google Chromecast seems to be around the corner

The last time we talked about a chromecast or something similar is when we discovered the arrival of Xiaomi tap to Cast. It is a dongle, if you can say so, able to create a mirroring of the display if we were to see a content on one screen rather than another. The device of Google it is much more powerful, of course, but it has a small problem: it costs a little compared to “non-designer” alternatives for what it allows to do. Yet an alternative may come shortly.

From the FCC certification here emerges a Google Chromecast with a lower resolution and therefore cheaper. What we know so far

The rumors about preparing for the release of a cheaper version of the Google Chromecast set-top box without 4K video support they are no longer rumors. The existence of the device was confirmed by the documentation found in the database of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States (via Droid Life).

More precisely, a Google application for a device called Google appeared in the FCC database G454V. While no image of the device is publicly available on the FCC's website, we expect it to be the long-awaited one Google Chromecast with 1080 pixel resolution. The Google document describes the G454V as a "wireless device" with dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2,4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth LE.

Indeed, the schematic image leaves no doubt - this is the new Chromecast model that connects to the TV. The documentation also mentions a remote control, support for 1080p video streaming and USB power. That said, we don't know when it will hit the market. Google is quite slow compared to competitors in the launch of new products, but still it is good to know of its existence.
