Google Photos will have a new free and unlimited plan but not for everyone | Update

As of June 1st, like announced time ago, Google Photos will delete its free unlimited storage plan for photos and videos. This forced all users who used it to ad purchase a paid plan for Google One. Specifically, after passing 15 GB of free storage space offered by the company, it is no longer possible to upload photos and videos. We found one solution, but perhaps too expensive. Now the team of 9to5Google found some interesting news, even if they only concern Pixel owners.

UPDATE AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE

How to get unlimited and free Google Photos? There is no other way than having a Google Pixel smartphone. Here are the news coming

Looking at the code of the latest version of the Google Photos app, 9to5Google found that Google is working onimplementation of a new free service plan, which would allow for unlimited storage of images and videos without the need for a paid subscription. Those who use the service will know that the platform offers the possibility to choose between two storage floors. One of them gives you the ability to store images at their original quality, and another that slightly reduces the quality of your photos to save space.

In version 5.41 of the Google Photos app, strings were found indicating the arrival of a third floor  called "saving storage space". The app code refers to this plan by stating that a "slightly reduced quality”Of the images thanks to a reduction in resolution. More importantly, Google specifies that this is an image storage plan free and unlimited. However, we are talking about a plan that would be only available on Google Pixel devices as an exclusive feature.

For now it is not clear when The arrival of this new Google Photos storage plan will happen, but it could undoubtedly become a incentive in choosing a Google Pixel compared to another competing model.

SECURITY UPDATE TRAINING

Unfortunately there is an update from 9to5Google. The company contacted them saying that the “Storage Saver” is nothing more than another name for “High Quality” of photos. So, nothing to do. You are left with the Google One paid plan
