Lately, video teardowns have become so fashionable, mainly dedicated to smartphones, in which the protagonist devices are literally disassembled and exposed, revealing the interior in perspective of understanding if any damage to the components can be repaired or not. Well this time, iFixit's friends have completed a disassembly of the new Xiaomi Mi Watch, the first smartwatch entirely made by the Chinese company which reveals welcome surprises in terms of repairability.

By opening the rear chassis, which many have compared to that of the latest Apple Watch, the guys from iFixit have been able to find modular components, most of which can be replaced without any particular problems. The battery was also quite simple to remove even if to get there it was necessary to remove the motherboard.

iFixit at the end of the Xiaomi Mi Watch teardown gave a repairability score of 4/10. A not so negative result if we consider that the latest smart watch from Apple has scored 6/10, but this does not mean that a car repair will create many headaches along the way and consequent headaches, so it is always better to turn to qualified personnel.

In particular, the iFixit teardowdn highlights the ease of replacing the screen and the battery, in general components that are more subject to problems deriving from time and wear.

Xiaomi released its Mi Watch in China towards the end of last year and there are rumors that it should soon be released in Europe too. Among the features of the watch we find a 1,72-inch Super AMOLED screen, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage space and a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor. The landing in Europe could really prove to be an alternative to existing Android Wear OS devices.
