Yesterday Google officially released the program Android P Beta. One of the most interesting things was the inclusion of non-Google devices for the first time. In addition to the typical Pixel and Nexus devices, the Beta program is also available for Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi 2S Mix, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21, OnePlus 6 and Essential PH-1.
The first thing to note is that this build is basically the framework Google Android. It is not MIUI based so there are no new features not yet available on Google Pixel devices. The final version of Android P for the device, however, will also include changes to the MIUI framework. The 2S Mi Mix will then continue to receive numerous developer builds as Google releases them.
If you hope to perform Android P Stock after the final version, you will certainly not get these builds from Xiaomi. The company reported that it will not publish Android P Stock builds after the developer's preview is over. So the question is, what is the purpose of this beta program then? The main function is that developers who are interested in making apps for Android P can use one Mi Mix 2S as a test device, relatively cheaper (at least, compared to other flagship smartphones that were announced as part of the program).
Keep in mind that this is still a preview for developers, it is not stable enough to be exploited for one daily use; at the moment, the secondary camera does not work. For those of you who are interested in running this beta P version, there is a single Android version P flashable for both variants Chinese and global device.
Finally, for those of you who wonder if Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro or Xiaomi Mi A1 will receive the P Developer Preview, unfortunately you will be disappointed to hear that the Chinese company will not offer the latest version of the operating system to other devices at this time.
Qualcomm offers BSPs based on Android P for Snapdragon 636 and Snapdragon 660, so surely the devices mentioned above can perfectly support this beta but the company is choosing to focus on providing the P preview to its flagship device to avoid too rapid spreading and uncontrollable.
