Motorola Razr 40 Ultra: revealed the data sheet before the launch

Motorola is about to enter the foldable smartphone market with the launch of his new Razr line il 1 June 2023. The top model, called Motorola Razr 40Ultra, is shaping up to be a serious competitor for brands like Samsung and OPPO, who already have clamshell devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and the OPPO Find N2 Flip.

While we wait for the official announcement, let's explore together the possible features of this interesting device.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra will have a second external OLED display

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is expected to follow the tradition of the Razr series, which is notable for its foldable clamshell main screen. The device is expected to have a 6,9 inch OLED panel, with vertical aperture, and an exceptional refresh rate of 165Hz.

This high frequency would ensure extremely smooth viewing, exceeding most current standards. The expected resolution would be 2400 1080 pixels x, in line with many contemporary smartphones of a similar format. This could differentiate the Razr 40 Ultra from many of its foldable competitors, such as Samsung, Oppo or Huawei, which tend to opt for more stretched resolutions.

However, the most revolutionary innovation may lie on the outside of the device. Motorola may introduce for the first time a second external OLED display which almost completely covers the top half of the device. This secondary display, which houses two main cameras and an LED flash in three circular holes, would have a diagonal of 3,6 inches and a high resolution of 1066 1056 pixels x.

This larger external screen would allow the use of many applications without having to open the smartphone, although the lack of a virtual keyboard may limit some features.

Excellent hardware, killer photographic sector

As for the hardware, it is expected that the device will be equipped with the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, adopted by some manufacturers at the end of last year.

While it is not Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, it still offers high-end performance with a clock speed of 3,2 gigahertz and a built-in 5G modem. Motorola may opt for 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB internal storage for the device.

The new camera offers high-end features that ensure outstanding performance. The 12 megapixel main sensor with 1,4 micron pixels andaperture f / 1.5 allows you to capture an abundant amount of light.

Next to the main sensor, we find a 13 megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor, which also features optical image stabilization and autofocus. In addition, the 32-megapixel front camera ensures high-quality selfies.

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is a versatile device that offers ample connectivity. In addition to support for 5G, has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC connectivity. The USB-C port offers support for USB 3.0. The battery, divided into two parts, has a capacity of 3800 mAh and supports the fast charging up to 33 W with the specific UltraPower adapter sold separately.

The operating system of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is Android 13, with a customized interface that keeps the system experience true to Google's original vision. This version adds some unique software features.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra price and availability

Motorola has announced the launch of the Razr 40 Ultra in Europe in Viva Magenta, Infinity Black and Glacier Blue colors, at an MSRP of 1169 €. This competitive price could be a game changer in the foldable smartphone market, offering a more affordable option than rivals like Samsung and OPPO.

To confirm all these details, we just have to wait for the device launch on June 1st. In addition to the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, a standard version called the Motorola Razr is also planned, which has slightly lower specifications.
