Netflix, the Californian streaming giant, recently introduced new rules for sharing accounts in Italy. These new directives, which follow last October's announcement and the first restrictions applied in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain, aim to limit sharing of accounts outside the household.

Netflix's new policy states that accounts can only be shared within the "household", or between those who live in the same house. This move was undertaken to ensure a more personalized and secure service for users, as well as to combat unauthorized use of accounts.
Netflix started sending emails di notice to subscribers who share an account outside their household, requiring you to “set up or update” the components of this core. This means that users will need to verify which devices have access to their account and, if necessary, transfer a profile to a new paid subscription.
If you want to share your account with people outside your household, you will need to pay an additional monthly fee of €4,99. These users will have separate access with their own username and password, and will only be able to view content on one device at a time.
To set up or update the "Netflix Home", users will have to follow a specific procedure from a TV connected to their Internet network. If you don't have a TV or don't use Netflix on this device, you won't need to set up a Household, as Netflix will do it automatically based on your IP address, device IDs, and account activity.
How to update your Netflix household
- Launch Netflix on your TV and get to the home screen
- Use the remote to navigate left and open the menu
- Search and select the option “Ask for assistance"
- After that, select "Manage Netflix Household"
- Now, you will have the option of “Confirm Netflix Household" or "Update my Netflix Home Core"
- You choose "Send email" or "Send SMS“. A verification link will be sent to the email address or phone number associated with your account. Note: These verification links expire after 15 minutes
- If you haven't associated a phone number or email address with your account, you'll only see one of two options
- Once you receive the email or SMS, select "Yes, it comes from me” in the email or tap the link in the text message
- You choose "Confirm Netflix Household" or "Update Netflix Home” to proceed
- You will see a confirmation on your TV screen and receive a confirmation email
- Finally, select "Go to Netflix” to start using the contents
