No more Google services for some Xiaomi / Redmi smartphones

The dispute between the American government and Chinese companies does not seem to end and so after the inclusion of Xiaomi in the entity list here is that the brand headed by Lei Jun, has taken a radical decision in response to the political and economic events in place. In particular with the advent of MIUI 12.5, the company has stopped support for Google's mobile services (GMS), blocking the installation of this service by users, although Xiaomi has explained that the reason for this decision is related to compatibility issues.

Without screaming scandal or anxiety taking over yourself, it should be specified that the decision concerns only China ROMs, in fact it is only Chinese users who have reported the impossibility of installing the GMS following the update to the MIUI 12.5 interface. The only problem that could concern us Westerners is if you buy a terminal with ROM China, as it could be the K series of Redmi or Mi 10 Ultra but also devices just launched in China that are slow to arrive in the Global version, such as the very recent Mi 11 which will debut this February 8th.

No more Google services for some Xiaomi / Redmi smartphones

At the moment the company has limited itself to giving the "justifications" mentioned above, but in reality it is not required to give any statement, since since Google is not present in China, the previous support for GMS was only a plus and not something due to Chinese users. Furthermore, the choice to block GMS on the brand's smartphones equipped with MIUI 12.5, seems at the moment to involve only devices equipped with a MediaTek chipset while those with Snapdragon SoC support for Google Mobile Sevices seem to be still present, but disabled, just install Google Play Store to use them.

So theoretically the smartphones that fall within the block by Xiaomi should be the following: Redmi K30 Ultra, 10X, 10X Pro, Note 9, Note 9 5G, Note 8 Pro, 9, 9A. Of course, the news causes a certain uproar, but fortunately it is possible to bypass the block given by MIUI China, by installing an alternative ROM, such as the Global ones if they are available or directly those developed by Xiaomi.eu etc .. In short, nothing new compared to what we did in the past !!!
