OnePlus thinks of smartphones with a camera on the frame, almost invisible

We are not used to seeing patents filed by OnePlus but we must keep in mind that Pete Lau's company is also very attentive to the needs of the market (and users). Although it was officially announced that one smartphones with a camera under the display and a foldable one are not in the company's plans, the Chinese giant is thinking of ever better solutions for its devices. What we are going to see today is the design of a smartphone with one tiny front camera, housed at the extreme edge of the body. The reason why the brand thinks about this solution? It is easy to say: to arrive at a full screen TRUE.

And so OnePlus would be thinking of an alternative solution to pop-up mechanisms and invisible cameras: here are the images

Thanks to the team of LetsGoDigital, always ready to bring us high definition and color patents, we discovered a OnePlus project which would include a very special smartphone. The main feature would be to have no holes and notches of any kind on the panel, but still have a front camera. As? By placing the optic on the frame, at the extreme edge of the body in the upper part. Let's go see the image below to better understand.

The device would look like any OnePlus smartphone at the end of the fair. However there would be a difference in the front panel. On the screen, in the middle and top, the main lens would be shifted to center (instead of at the corners as in the latest models) but flush with the body. This would allow you to gain those 2/3 mm of space to make the screen truly a full screen. A similar solution we have seen with Black Shark which gave gamers the possibility of not seeing the annoying hole while during a gaming session.

According to OnePlus solution would also be cheaper than making a hole in the screen. It appears to be a relatively easy camera system to apply as it only consists of one unibody internal module (we see it in the photo above). However, it is a patent, so we do not know if and when the company will decide to use this solution.
