In 2020, the CEO of OnePlus Pete Lau he said foldable smartphones weren't ripe for mass marketing yet. At the time, the company had no plans to release a foldable, and neither did its sister Oppo. The company explored the form factor in question but wanted to wait for more advanced technologies. Today, Pete Lau has been teasing users though.
The OnePlus foldout is in preparation. All the clues from Pete Lau point to the foldable coming out this year for sure
OnePlus subsidiary Oppo has launched the beautiful Oppo Find Women late last year, which has a flat, wrinkle-free display that folds out with no gaps. Now, the OnePlus Fold (fictional name) should be launched soon. Why do we say this? On Twitter profile of the company's CEO, he himself showed a hinge used for folding a foldable smartphone. And what can it mean except that the OnePlus foldable is coming? "What do you think this is?Asked the CEO. The photos clearly show the hinge mechanism of the folding smartphone.
Gary Chen, OnePlus Chief Software Officer, confirmed these rumors earlier this year and said the foldable (when it comes out) will perform a modified version of OxygenOS 13 based on the Android 13 operating system.
The two companies, owned by BBK, have collaborated even more closely than in the past on everything from design to software, so the OnePlus Fold could be one renamed version of Find N with OxygenOS instead of ColorOS.
