After a few weeks of leaks and rumors, the new Oppo A92S has just been presented in China. The smartphone is added to the younger brothers of the series A, or the A52 and A12 presented in the previous days; let's find out more!
Oppo A92S official with MediaTek Dimensity 800 and 120Hz screen
The Oppo A92S is a rather particular smartphone as it is part of the medium-high range, but at the same time it is equipped with a high refresh rate display. Indeed, we have a screen from 6,57 inches of diagonal type LCD, Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080), 2.5D finish and refresh rate of 120Hz. However, no data is revealed on the sampling frequency of the touch, an important factor in having a more fluid and accurate user experience.
In any case, on this huge display we find two front cameras in a pillar hole in the upper left. These cameras have a resolution of 16MP for the main and 2MP for the secondary which is actually nothing more than a depth sensor for taking selfies with the much-needed bokeh effect.
Turning on the back instead, we have a total of four cameras in a not very original square-shaped module. Among these we find a main sensor with 48MP resolution (not specified if Sony or Samsung) and focal aperture of f / 1,7, coupled to an ultra wide angle lens with 8MP resolution and 119 degree field of view, a 2MP sensor for macro photos and another 2MP depth sensor.
As for performance, the smartphone is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor. This chip integrates four Cortex A76 and four Cortex A55 cores, with a maximum frequency of 2,0Ghz, while on the GPU side we have four ARM Mali G77 cores. In addition, the Dimensity 800 uses a TSMC 7nm production process, which supports the 5G Sub-6GHz frequency band and consequently both SA and NSA networks. There is also support for dual carrier 5G (2CC AC) aggregation which, compared to other single carrier solutions (1CC AC), brings an improved speed of about 30%, as well as being able to create multiple connections without interruptions.
Huawei Kirin 820> MediaTek Dimensity 800> Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G
Compared to other chips from Qualcomm and Huawei, MediaTek's Dimensity 800 ranks between the Huawei Kirin 820 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G. In particular, we have a single core score on GeekBench of around 2500 points and a multi core score of 8130. So we expect an excellent user experience in most situations.
The CPU will then be supported by a minimum of 6GB of RAM (8GB max) and 128GB or 128GB of internal memory.
From the autonomy point of view, the Oppo A92S has been equipped with a 4000mAh battery with support for fast charging at 18W (9V / 2A) through the USB Type-C port at the bottom. USB Type-C port which however did not bring the elimination of the 3,5mm audio jack which fortunately remains. What is missing, however, is the NFC module, which in a medium-high end device should be present (in our opinion).
Finally, the smartphone arrives with ColorOS 7.1 as an operating system, is 8,1 mm thick, has a lateral fingerprint sensor and is available in three colors: Ninety Degrees Black, Whisper White and Glossy Pink.
The Oppo A92S is now in presale in China on the official Oppo website and authorized stores at the starting price of 2199 Yuan (286 euros) for the variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. The version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of memory instead costs 2499 Yuan (325 euros). While the option with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory will be released later at the price of 2799 Yuan, on the 365 euros at the current exchange rate.
