POCO Official M2 Pro in India: An Unsolicited Rebrand?

As scheduled, the POCO M2 Pro has just been unveiled in India. The smartphone is actually nothing new, but a rebrand of a device already available in both India and Italy, let's talk specifically about the Redmi Notes 9S.

Like the Redmi terminal in fact, also the POCO M2 Pro arrives with a 6,67-inch diagonal display, Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080) and maximum brightness of 450 nits. The smartphone then adopts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G as a processor, supported by a maximum of 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal memory.

The M2 Pro equips a total of four cameras, these include a 48MP main camera, in particular we have the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor with a focal aperture of f 1.79, 1.6 µm large pixels and dual pixel autofocus technology; coupled to an 8MP secondary sensor with ultra wide angle lens (119 degree field of view), a 5MP sensor for macro photos from 2 to 10 centimeters away and a 2MP sensor to capture the depth of field and create photos with bokeh effect. For selfies, we find instead a single 16MP sensor.

In any case, the only real difference we notice between the POCO M2 Pro and the Redmi Note 9S resides in the charging technology. The smartphone of POCO in fact, it adopts a more advanced technology for a maximum power of 33W, while the Note 9S stops at only 18W. However, the size of the battery with a capacity of 5000mAh remains unchanged.

The M2 Pro will be available in India in the colors "Out of the Blue", "Green and Greener" and "Two Shades Of Black". While as regards prices, we have the basic version from 4GB / 64 GB to 13.999 Indian rupees (€ 165), the 6GB / 64 GB option at 14.999 rupees (€ 175) and the one with 6GB / 128 GB at 16.999 rupees ( € 200). At the moment we have no information on a possible global launch, but it seems very unlikely given the similarity with the Redmi Note 9S and the avalanche of criticisms already received in India.
