The OnePlus 8T prototype that changes color and breathes with the user | Video

It was the beginning of the year when OnePlus One was shown for the first time. A really absurd concept phone since it integrated on the back of the cameras that disappeared into the black glass body. A true smartphone of the future. It was more of a design experiment than anything else because that technology was not very useful in itself. At the end of the year, the brand tries again by presenting a OnePlus 8T prototype that “breathes” by changing color. Let's go see it on video.

An absurdly beautiful though useless prototype of the OnePlus 8T: a device in itself perfect that changes color with a back that "breathes"

It is an electro chromic back as for the vivo prototype, or rather of a material that the brand has called. But unlike this they are just gods sections of the back to change color and not the whole body. A plot that makes you think of an aquatic plant if you want. To give this idea also the exclusive blue-silver color of this OnePlus 8T.

Electronic Color Material and Finish (acronym ECMF extension) is the name the company has given to this particular method and technology. But how does it work? Basically OnePlus 8T is covered with an iridescent semi-transparent film. On this is metal oxide, which is activated when a certain voltage is applied, changing the glass from dark blue to light silver.

Our designers drew inspiration for these colors from the multi-colored flowing water in the hot springs of Pamukkale, Turkey. Nature has perfected many designs, and by drawing inspiration from Pamukkale and other natural elements, we can create new interacting experiences that are more natural, intuitive and effortless.

But what would be the usefulness? The brand said this technology could replace the notification LED to notify the user of receiving a message or a call. But there is also another peculiarity: the device uses the mmWare waves to change color based on how a user breathes. Seeing the video everything will be clearer.
