And right at the China Technology Day held in Beijing, the multi-billion dollar company Qualcomm announced its 5G technology development plans.
Specifically Qualcomm has tightened one partnership with leading companies in China including Xiaomi, Lenovo, OPPO, Vivo, ZTE and Wingtech through which it will develop the infrastructure 5G Pioneer Initiative but not only, Qualcomm together with these companies will develop new mobile applications and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and IoT. Chinese mobile users are extremely interested in the new 5G connectivity so that the% 60% of consumers interviewed said that they will probably change their smartphone as soon as 5G technology is available.
Qualcomm president Cristiano Amon says that the 5G "will change everything", and this statement was followed by those of partners like Lenovo who, through CEO Yuanqing Yang, stated that AI will be the next industrial revolution and that the 5G is the missing piece of this revolution. In addition to the 5G Pioneer Initiative, Qualcomm announced yesterday it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lenovo, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi. These companies have expressed the intention of buy Qualcomm's RF front-end components for the next three years.
As the company points out, Qualcomm's RFFE components provide a comprehensive portfolio of system-wide, full-scale RF modem-antenna front-end platform solutions designed to enable OEMs to quickly build large-scale mobile devices for easy global expansion, allowing differentiate future 5G products with a slimmer design, a more performing system as well as improved coverage and state-of-the-art energy efficiency.
The future 5G technology will bring substantial changes and there is no doubt about it, it's just a matter of when this happens because the development of the 5G will not happen in a short time.
