Redmi Flagship: Practically confirmed AMOLED screen and UD sensor

Today Redmi's general manager and vice president of Xiaomi Group, Lu Weibing, woke up in a good mood, as we will soon see in another post. Although we are very pleased with this news, we are much more interested in updates regarding the long-awaited first Xiaomi sub-brand flagship.

Lu Weibing does not disappoint us even today, with a clue that confirms one of the most wanted features on the incoming smartphone.

Redmi Flagship: Practically confirmed AMOLED screen and UD sensor

Redmi Flagship AMOLED display UD Sensor

Yes, as you will already have understood from the title, the Redmi Flagship will be equipped with a fingerprint sensor below the screen. Although Weibing did not explicitly confirm it, a few hours ago the general manager shared the image you see above, or a screenshot captured on the device in question.

As you can see, in fact, the icon for the fingerprint sensor is shown in the screenshot, so we can consider it confirmed from today onwards.

Together with the image, Weibing then commented that he ended the day with an excellent battery life that even exceeded his expectations. If we look at the battery icon, we note that the 47% charge is still available, so a fairly positive figure.

Returning to the sensor instead, as some of you will know, the technology that allows the reading of fingerprints under the screen does not work under the LCD displays. This means that unless Redmi has managed to make it work with an LCD screen (which is not easy at the moment), the post also confirms that the next Redmi flagship will be equipped with an AMOLED screen.

In fact, given that already we know the resolution that was previously revealed by another screenshot shared by Weibing, we could also assume that the top of the Redmi range can be equipped with the same AMOLED panel on the Xiaomi Mi 9. Therefore, the future Redmi Flagship would have very little to envy compared to the admiral of the parent company Xiaomi.

redmi flagship teaser pop-op camera

Moreover, in a sense, the Redmi device could also have a more aggressive design than the Mi 9, since as we already know, the first will have no notch or hole on the screen, but rather a camera with a pop-up mechanism. This means that we will have a really full screen screen, if not for the "chin" (lower border) which unfortunately will remain.

The other main features of Redmi Flagship already confirmed include the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, an 3,5mm audio jack and an NFC module.

Now tell us yours. Are you happy with the possible presence of the fingerprint sensor under the screen and the resulting AMOLED display? Let us know in the comments section below!
