The Redmi K20 Pro is already in the Android Q Beta program

As we had reported a few weeks ago, last 7 May Google presented the new Android Q operating system.

At the Google I / O conference the American technology giant then put on a demo with a device that we know very well, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G. Why this terminal? Well, the Mi MIX 3 5G is the first 5G smartphone in the world, so what better device to demonstrate the speed of the next generation internet network. In addition to the MIX 3 5G we then saw the Xiaomi Mi 9 with the Android Q beta on board.

Well, today's news is that the newly announced Redmi K20 Pro will also be part of the Android Q Beta program. This means that the 2.0 Flagship Killer will run with all the latest features of the Google operating system.

As we can see in the image above in fact, the Redmi K20 Pro has been added to the list of Xiaomi devices that can opt to install Android Q.

The happy owners of Redmi K20 Pro (which at the moment should be scarce as the smartphone will go on sale on 6 June) will be able to try the Beta following 5 steps:

  1. Confirm that the smartphone has the bootloader unlocked. If you do not have the bootloader unlocked, you must request Xiaomi and wait for an answer. The request must be made on the official website a this link.
  2. Download the Android Q beta and extract it to a folder.
  3. Download the flash tool a this address.
  4. Turn off the smartphone and press volume - plus power button at the same time to enter fastboot mode, connect it to the PC.
  5. Open the flash tool, enter the address of the folder in which the beta was extracted, click the flashing button and wait for the tool to do the necessary, the smartphone will automatically restart.

Once you have followed these steps you will have the device with Android Q Beta, this involves the presence of some missing features and bugs such as:

  1. The fingerprint sensor will not work.
  2. When the user selects "Applications and notifications" in "Settings", the application will crash.
  3. It is not possible to switch between users.
  4. It could happen that when you download a video from Google Drive, the length of it doesn't appear.
  5. Bluetooth may not be available for some keyboards. In particular, we are aware of a problem with the Logitech K80 keyboard.

In any case, whether the Android Q Beta is actually used on the new Redmi K20 Pro or not, in our opinion it is much more important to know that Xiaomi is close to Google in this period. So you can always have devices up to date and with the latest Google mom OS.
