According to the latest from China, Xiaomi's sub-brand, Redmi, is about to launch a new Redmi Note series in the Asian country.
New Redmi Note series arriving at the end of March: it will have OLED screen and fingerprint sensor under the display
This was revealed by the Chinese blogger Wisdom Pikachu who on Weibo said that the next Redmi Note series will be released towards the end of March. Wisdom Pikachu has also revealed that the new series says goodbye to the LCD display, which means that this will only use OLED type screens.
Recall that in the first half of last year, the Redmi Note 11T Pro series in China adopted a solution with a side fingerprint sensor and an LCD-type screen. It was an LCD screen specially created for Redmi and which had obtained the DisplayMate A+ certification, in other words it was the best LCD screen up to that moment.
However, entering 2023, the new Redmi Note series models will only use OLED screens and support on-screen fingerprint recognition.
While regarding the issue of eye protection and possible damage to the eyes of OLED displays compared to LCD ones, the new Redmi Note series should use screens with very high frequency PWM Dimming. The ultra-high frequency PWM Dimming technology has little effect on the display quality and color of the screen, but it solves the problem of low-brightness OLED displays, reducing eye damage.
Also, since the OLED screen can support fingerprint sensors under it, the new Redmi Note series will support this feature, thus we will have a more premium unlocking experience, at least on paper.
We recall that the last Redmi smartphone of the Note series to be presented was the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip, has a 6,67-inch OLED screen, a 5000mAh battery and 67W fast charging.
