Today, the Xiaomi sub-brand that became independent earlier this year, Redmi, has expanded its portfolio with various products. As we have seen before, these include the new Redmi K30 and RedmiBook 13 Full Screen Edition, but it does not end here. Redmi also announced a new router and a smart speaker; let's go and discover them together!
Redmi Router AC2100 and Redmi Speaker Play presented in China
Let's start with the perhaps most interesting product, namely the new high performance AC2100 Redmi Router. The router uses a system with six omni-directional antennas to bring the WiFi signal to every part of the house at maximum speed. Speed that settles at a maximum transfer of just above the 2Gbps and that is obtained through the use of the band 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz simultaneously. In fact, the router name refers to the maximum speed of "2100" Mbps reachable for 1733Mbps on 5Ghz and 300Mbps on 2,4Ghz.
The Redmi AC2100 Router is powered by a powerful dual-core CPU (for a router of course), the MT7621A, with 880Mhz frequency combined with 128MB RAM and 128MB internal memory. This hardware will allow us to connect up to 128 devices at the same time.
We then have a video game network accelerator called NetEase UU for three months (after which it will cost 90 Yuan - 11 €), which can improve performance in multiplayer video games.
Finally, the router is compatible with the Xiaomi application and has been optimized to work best with other Chinese brand products.
The Redmi Router AC2100 is now on sale in China at the 169 Yuan figure, on the 22 € at the current exchange rate.
Turning instead to the smart speaker called Redmi Speaker Play, this adopts a very simple design with high-quality 1,75 inch speakers, while the internal cavity has a volume of 350 cubic centimeters for a more refined sound.
The Speaker Play integrates a latest generation Bluetooth chip with Mesh Gateway technology support, so we will have an excellent partner to control all those Bluetooth devices present in the Xiaomi ecosystem, whether they are smart or other lights.
Obviously Xiaomi's assistant XiaoAI cannot be missing, to be able to control the cash register through voice commands. Furthermore, thanks to the AI, the cashier is also able to recognize the vocal stamp and therefore reply with dedicated suggestions.
The Redmi Speaker Play will go on sale in China at the price of 79 Yuan, that is poco more than 10 euros. We remind you as always that these are the prices for the Chinese market. The price will go up when they are sold by third-party stores.
