Samsung is the largest display manufacturer in the world, regardless of whether it is OLED or LCD. Well, according to Korean sources, it seems that the colossus is preparing a 1000 ppi display (pixels per inch). Samsung is reportedly preparing a OLED display with 1000 ppi (pixel per inch) which should be ready by 2024. The data speak of the development of a technology called TFT (thin film transistor) for OLED panels. Only thanks to this technology would it be possible to reach 1000 ppi. Since i Traditional OLED panels do not use this technology, and since the report talks about TFT, the most plausible hypothesis is that it is a 1000 ppi smartphone display.
In addition to enabling an incredibly high pixel density of, Samsung's future TFT technology is also said to be much faster than current solutions. Ten times faster, to be precise. This could mean that the fluidity of images on our mobile devices will be further improved (well beyond 165Hz reached by some smartphones). Samsung also intends to make its future more high-density displays energy efficient and cheaper to produce. It is unclear how the company wants to achieve this, but the 1.000 ppi panel is expected to be available by 2024.
Who will use it? Clearly the first companies to get their hands on Samsung's 1000 ppi OLED display will be Xiaomi e Oppo. As is now recognized, these two companies are always in pole position. However, it remains to wait a few more years before having any official status.
