ByteDance has in fact merged the Xinshi Lab set up by the original team of Smartisan Technology with the educational hardware team led by the original founder of Musical.ly, Yang Luyu. Going forward, Bytedance's hardware team will be under the unified responsibility of Yang Luyu and will report to Chen Lin, Bytedance's senior vice president and head of education.

ByteDance's hardware team will focus on the education field and suspend research and development of smartphones, displays and other products.

For smartphone owners of the brand, ByteDance said that Smartisan's user services will not be affected and will continue to explore and innovate the Smartisan operating system, but the move still scared the various users of the brand.

So much so that Zhu Haizhou, the Smartisan product manager, gave his opinion on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter). Zhu Haizhou first of all thanked everyone for their interest and "condolences", saying that he could not reveal it before the official announcement.

Zhu Haizhou also confirmed that users who have already purchased smartphone smartphones need not worry, after-sales service and operating system maintenance will continue as normal.

As for future development, Zhu Haizhou said he is still on the Smartisan OS team and will continue to explore to innovate the operating system.
