Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will replace ARM cores: that's with whom

Since the beginning of this month we talk about the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 which will be manufactured by TSMC using its 4nm process (which is actually related to the 5nm node). The chip is said to use a 1-4-3 configuration consisting of a high-performance X-4 core running at 3,70GHz, four "performance" cores and three efficiency cores. But apparently his is already being talked about Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 successor.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could abandon the ARM cores to replace them with Nuvia's Oryons. Will there be an improvement in performance?

According to some information leaked da poco, the next Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be released in 2025 and will have a completely different configuration than now. It is first stated that Qualcomm's product will be produced using the node of TSMC's N3E process, the foundry's second-generation 3nm node; this will offer greater performance and energy efficiency improvements over first-generation 3nm chipsets. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 it will use Qualcomm's Oryon cores, which will replace the ARM CPU architecture, leading to up to 40% multi-core performance improvement.

In January 2021, Qualcomm has acquired Nuvia, the company behind Oryon cores, for $1,5 billion, aiming to compete with Apple's M2 chip. The aforementioned whistleblower claims that the current flagship chipset can score 6500 in the Geekbench 5 multi-core benchmark test, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to score over 9000 (9100 to be exact), giving it a 40% higher rating than the M2. While the M2 isn't expected to be used in any iPhone model, the Snapdragon in question could power the Galaxy S25 lineup. But we know that even the top of the range Xiaomi like Xiaomi 15 will use this SoC.
