Within a few days of the incident in India and affecting the spontaneous battery explosion of a Xiaomi Mi4i, a similar incident occurred in China involving a Xiaomi Mi5. According to what was declared by the user involved on his Weibo account, the Xiaomi Mi5's battery became unexpectedly hot.
Unlike the other incident however, the smartphone battery did not explode but is only flaring. This does not mean a minor danger, of course. At the moment Xiaomi did not express himself in this regard but we are confident that the phrases will be the same as those used in the incident in India:
We take these things seriously and we are already investigating the matter. We have been in contact with the customer and will be taking his device this week for further investigation. In the meantime, we have offered a replacement phone to the customer.
Taken from this situation, we remind you to be very careful, regardless of the smartphone you have in your hands, if you notice that the battery starts to heat up a lot. It is the first obvious sign that the chemical reactions inside the battery are causing some damage.
By expanding the talk of Xiaomi's economy, surely these two incidents do not fit the image that Xiaomi has been hard-won during its 6 years of life. However, it has to be said that in the past other big brands have also faced such issues as, unfortunately, this is not an isolated case.
