The continuous desire to amaze often leads to the creation of technological hybrids that border on the ridiculous, other times instead they lead to the creation of something that will probably never be realized due to too much construction difficulty incurred. The fact is that Xiaomi has recently been filing an endless series of patents such as the last one that appeared online and made available by the colleagues of the LetsGoDigital blog, who have collected the main data and processed a render that shows us a very particular smartphone, whose main feature lies incorporating a pop-up quad camera.
The images that come to us at first glance have the bizarre, showing a smartphone with bunny ears, small elements that emerge from the upper profile of the phone and that incorporate two cameras on each side that can be angled and then closed with a retractable mechanism.
The new Xiaomi patent shows a smartphone with an angled pop-up camera
This could be a valid alternative to the holes in the display and the protruding photographic modules, allowing to have a "smooth" design both on the rear and on the front, thus eliminating the showy sensors that currently cover the surface of current smartphones, but which at the same time suggests a poor quality of those used in the patent. In fact, if lately we can get professional-grade photographs and videos, it is also due to the size of the sensor used, which inevitably takes up space.
Returning to the patent, on the back, along the upper edge, houses the LED flash, in a central position with respect to the retractable mechanism of the quad camera. Personally I believe that the project will never take shape, precisely because of the considerations relating to the photographic quality of which I wrote a few lines ago.
A very particular concept that knowing Xiaomi could also be developed, but perhaps never commercialized, because I believe it would not have a market. Doubts concern the duration of the mechanism: already now, with a single pop-up camera many are afraid, let alone with a double mechanism with quad camera. I also return to the question of quality and above all, if you want to create an elegant smartphone and therefore free of disturbing elements, why not develop a single camera but also performing from the software point of view?
What do you think of it? Agree with me or are you a lover of a thousand thousand sensors inserted on modern smartphones?
