So if you're up to the OTA notification or the ability to flash the update manually, you will surely have the curiosity to know what exactly will change, what are the improvements and features that the MIUI 8.2 Stable promises to bring to our beloved smartphones.

NEW FAST TOGGLE SETTINGS

Left Side = Old Toggle Settings, Right Side = New Toggle Settings

The quick toggle interface in MIUI 8.2 has improved! In addition to organizing the commands, it is also possible to activate / deactivate them directly from the Settings screen. It certainly works much more efficient than the current one, as it will no longer be necessary to scroll down the Toggle curtain.

AUTOMATIC TASK

Surely this function makes our device even smarter. In MIUI 8.2 the Automatic Tasks function will allow you to automate many simple tasks. The new feature will be present in the Security App by scrolling through the various items below. By default we will have two automated tasks, which are “Turn on airplane mode at a specific time” and “Turn off various Settings when the battery reaches 20%”.

To create a new automated activity, just tap the “+” icon at the bottom right. First you will need to choose a condition for which the task will be activated, either as a specific time, or as a time interval or when a certain battery level is reached. Secondly, you have to choose one or more actions to be done in the proposed condition, such as turning the WiFi on or off, or adjusting a certain brightness of the display, cleaning the memory, etc. the smartphone will become a real "Smartphone"!

HOME SCREEN SETTINGS

Another new setting included in the MIUI 8.2 update is Home Screen Settings. We will find this new function in the General Settings menu of the phone while the offered features are the enabling / disabling of the Smart Assistant, the blocking of the screen layout and the auto-filling of empty cells on the screen left by uninstalled applications. But perhaps the image below better explains what I just told you.

The dx app moves to xx filling the empty cell of the uninstalled App

Instead, with the "Lock Screen Layout" function we will not be able to move any applications on our home screen, except adding widgets or installing a new application in case there is free space available in the Home.

SMART ASSISTANT

The Smart Assistant is basically a virtual page that provides the most useful information to you directly by swipe to the right from the Home screen. By default, our most frequently used applications are displayed in a row in the top, and then there are several "cards" that provide quick information. Unfortunately not all of the information will be all working as developed for ROM China not for Global.

Within the settings of the Smart Assistant we can find the "frequent places" and the "Card settings". The "frequent places" are unfortunately exclusively localized for China and therefore it is useless to dwell on this. In “Card settings” we can choose which “card” to display in the Smart Assistant screen. Some examples of the "cards" to be displayed are the one dedicated to Mi Fit, or to mobile data (Network Assistamt) or the Calendar Reminder. For example with card I Fit will be provided with information about the steps taken, the distance and the calories burned in real time. The Calendar Reminder reminds us of the tasks to be done throughout the day as the Network Assistant will update you on the data consumed in the day and month, useful to keep Giga consumption available with our telephone offer .

Additionally, card settings can be used to create links or to most used applications or actions. Selectable actions / functions are maximum 5, for example they can write a new post, create notes, start a voice recording, etc.

Left Side = Recommended App, Right Side = Actions

TOGGLE SAVING BATTERY

Surely you already know the possibility of the energy savings integrated in MIUI 8 and activated by the Security application. In the MIUI 8.2 update it is now possible to add a new quick toggle to easily enable the battery saving mode. Enabling this mode will stop syncing and will optimize background processes to further reduce battery usage.

VIRUS SCAN ON THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS

Don't feel confident enough about the viruses that may be hiding behind installed applications? The MIUI 8.2 update brings with it the automatic virus scan function on third-party APK files. Any application that is not downloaded from the Google Playstore or the Mi Market will be scanned by the antivirus before installing it on the device. This is a good protection against malware or viruses that may hide inside applications downloaded from unsafe sources. However, this setting has no possibility to be disabled which could create problems in case of installation of an application not recognized by the Xiaomi database.

NEW ICONS

There are new icons in the MIUI 8.2 such as USB charging or keyboard change. Perhaps it is not as interesting as the rest of the features but is still a further improvement at the graphic level, giving the various users ever more modern.

Of course this is not all. The MIUI 8.2 update will also provide a new App called Feedback, new ringtones and sounds for notifications and much more. Personally I am still waiting to test it and therefore it is not said that MIUI 8.2 is free from more or less serious bugs. If any of you have already managed to update their system, they are welcome to leave a comment about their experience below.

Updates are gradual and you go first from china and then for the global. Once updated the stable china of the models that will receive it, it will go to the global.

careful, you are getting confused .. 8.1.2 is the last for us, 8.1.4.0 is a release dedicated to india .. if you set India as a country, you will see that it reaches you
