Threads, it's a storm: Twitter threatens legal action against Meta

We just talked about today Threads, the new social media set up a bit on the sly by Meta. It is a network closely related to Instagram, from which users can also be fished. But having said that: what happens between the big names in social networks? It looks great din given that, as revealed, Twitter allegedly threatened to sue Meta. The reasons? We explain them to you below

Twitter threatens legal action against Meta for Threads. The company accuses Meta: that's why

Twitter is threatening to take legal action against Meta, accusing the social media giant of hiring former employees to create a “copycat” application. Meta, the parent company of Instagram, recently introdotto Threads, a text-based platform reminiscent of Twitter and other text-based social platforms. Alex SpiroTwitter's attorney sent a letter to Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, accusing the company of “systematic, willful and illegal appropriation of Twitter trade secrets and other intellectual property”.

Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights and asks Meta to immediately stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information. Spiro accused Meta of hiring dozens of former Twitter employees who "they had and continue to have access to Twitter's trade secrets and other highly confidential information“. He further stated that Meta has instructed these employees to develop Meta's "Threads" app with the specific intent of using Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property to expedite development of Meta's competitor app, in violation of both state and federal laws and these employees' ongoing obligations to Twitter.

Andy Stone, director of communications at Meta, told a Semaphore that Twitter's allegations are unfounded. “No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee", he said. In a tweet posted after the initial publication of this story, Musk wrote that “competition is allowed, cheating is not".

Threads could be the most serious threat yet to steal users (and money) from Twitter. And it has a built-in network of billions of Instagram users to build on: Threads allows users to instantly find and transfer their Instagram followers instead of rebuilding their network from scratch.
