For months, Nintendo fans have been waiting for the announcement of the company Switch Pro, an improved version of the hybrid console, which will take into account errors and the original and will have better hardware. Unfortunately, the company decided to go a different route and announced a review with one OLED screen. Gamers are discouraged and for that very reason Gabe Newell and his Valve have decided to make Steam deck: the competitor of the Switch. Let's go and see all its features.

Last night, the creators of Half-Life, Portal and Team Fortress suddenly have Steam Deck announced, a laptop with Linux which will be able to run any game from the Steam library. The console has already been given to journalists to test its capabilities, and they were delighted with the device: despite the strange design, it works well, it has excellent autonomy and also practically does not heat up.
With regard to hardware features, the videogame brand amazed with a truly surprising endowment. The console is equipped with:
- CPU based on AMD Zen 2 architecture (4 cores / 8 threads, 2.4-3.5 GHz)
- GPU on RDNA 2 architecture (1.0-1.6 GHz up to 1.6 Teraflop FP32)
- 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM
- 7 ″ LCD screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and 400 nit brightness
- battery that allows autonomy up to 8 hours of play
Additionally, the Steam Deck has a module Bluetooth 5.0, gyroscope it's a trackpad and, using a special docking stations, can be connected to a monitor and used as a PC. The icing on the cake, it can also connect to the internet and download applications. All thanks to Linux.

The only thing to overlook is the amount of storage space: although it can be expanded using SD cards, the capacity leaves a lot to be desired. 3 versions of the device are available for purchase. Below are the Steam Deck prices in Euros:
- Basic with 64 GB of eMMC memory which will cost 419 €
- with advanced 256GB NVMe SSD that will cost € 549
- with high-end 512GB NVMe SSD that will cost € 679
According to Gabe Newell, the relatively low cost of the Steam Deck was a basic necessity, so the company is determined to keep it at that level. The console premiere will take place in December but nothing is known about deliveries in Italy.
