Qualcomm thinks of its own Nintendo Switch, but with Android 12

Qualcomm he has his hands in the dough almost everywhere and apparently he is also thinking of one owner console. It is not the first time we have heard such a thing. Some time ago it was rumored that the US giant was itself preparing a gaming smartphone, but unfortunately we have no news about it to date. The team of Android Police have discovered something really interesting: the company may soon present one Nintendo Switch style console but with a different OS than the one based on 3DS. Let's go see the details.

In Qualcomm's plans there would be a Nintendo Switch-style device that could give the Japanese competitor a hard time

According to the source, Qualcomm would be taking a Snapdragon chip in order to plug it into a dedicated gaming console. Everything would be moved by the operating system Android 12 and accompanied by detachable controllers such as Joy-con and the possibility of connect to Smart TVs. The device is said to look like a "thicker and bulkier smartphone”Which allows greater thermal dissipation to improve chip performance (not specified yet).

The report speculates that the device "will feature the next generation of Snapdragon SoCs”And the release date would be scheduled for first quarter of 2022. It could be announced later this year along with the successor to the Snapdragon 888, a hypothetical Snapdragon 895. But let's move on to the technical specifications.

The device by Qualcomm will be equipped with a battery from 6.000 mAh which takes advantage of fast charging and connectivity 5G (thanks to Snapdragon X55 proprietary modem). No doubt one will be used cloud gaming platform and this could mean a reduced amount of memory in terms of hardware. Other known specs include one slot for SD cards, Bluetooth, GPS, accelerometer and dual zone haptic controls. The controllers are said to be provided by third parties, therefore not proprietary.

This Qualcomm console will run Android 12 with a "custom launcher". It could be the first non-Pixel device to launch with the new operating system. In addition to Play Store it seems that the processor giant wants to pre-install theEpic Games Store. The target price will be around 250 € but we are talking about the USA.
