The Chinese government increases the limit of wireless charging: it reaches 80W!

When wireless charging first came out, several manufacturers took a bolder approach. For example, Xiaomi it was able to go up to 80W wireless charging, which is higher than the wired fast charging power of many manufacturers. This led to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology having to issue regulations to limit the power of wireless fast charging. At the moment the power is limited to 50W, and it is for this reason that the fast wireless charging of the Chinese flagships reaches a maximum of 50W.

The Chinese government increases the limit of wireless charging: it reaches 80W!

80W wireless charging

Well, recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology introduced a new “Interim Regulation on Radio Management of Wireless Charging Equipment (Power Transmission)”. These regulations apply to the production or import of wireless charging equipment for mobile communication terminals, wireless charging equipment for portable consumer electronic devices, and wireless charging equipment for electric vehicles (including motorcycles) sold and used in China.

According to the "Regulations", the operating frequency range of mobile and portable wireless charging equipment is 100-148,5 kHz, 6765-6795 kHz, 13553-13567 kHz and the rated transmit power does not exceed 80W.

In addition, the operating frequency of wireless charging equipment for electric vehicles (including motorcycles) with a rated transmission power exceeding 22kW but not exceeding 120kW is in the 19-21kHz frequency band.

The operating frequency of wireless charging equipment for electric vehicles (including motorcycles) with a rated transmission power not exceeding 22kW is in the 79-90kHz frequency band.

The regulations also stipulate that the use of wireless charging equipment shall not cause harmful interference to other legal radio stations and services, nor require protection from radio interference and radiated radio wave interference.

It is likely that after the introduction of this new regulation, perhaps some manufacturers will increase the fast charging power to 80W again.
