Is Wordcraft the Google AI that will replace writers?

The question that many are asking is: "Will artificial intelligence replace humans?". We don't have an answer. Some think that there are no brakes on technology and therefore this will happen. Others think that scientists have a moral obligation to to put stakes in the development of AI. But what if this is not the case? This we ask ourselves when we speak of wordcraft, the artificial intelligence of Google which seems to want to replace the work of editors and writers.

Will artificial intelligence replace humans? Maybe yes, maybe not, but Google's Wordcraft looks like the very AI that will replace writers

Google has announced the launch of a tool artificial intelligence for writers capable of generating texts. The project is called Wordcraft. Google said it wanted to "explore the future of writing”Like this and 13 professional writers took part in the tests. They used the system for 8 weeks, after which they have issued a verdict.

Google's new artificial intelligence system can rewrite sentences, change the tone of the same or a text to make it more fun. Wordcraft also allows you to describe objects on demand or generate suggestions for the author: in short, it is a virtual assistant that can do the work for us. Indeed, in the system it is integrated a chatbot, which will allow the written and generated material to be discussed with the AI to correct it quickly. All of this will allow authors to create better texts.

But not all that glitters is gold. However, a problem emerged during the tests: Wordcraft could not consistently maintain a certain style of text, tone and so on. This manifested itself when the authors tried to create stories in which there were different points of view. The system hasn't done a great job of mixing things up yet. Furthermore, the authors stated that a lot of the lyrics are similar to fan fiction, because they weren't very interesting from a literary point of view.

However, most likely the system was only trained on texts from the Internet, where fan fiction isn't quite the last frontier of writing. Journalist Victoria Song of The Verge he noted that the system is great for generating ideas, but does not fit very well with full-fledged texts. A prototype still immature in essence, which if developed well though it could really be a useful tool.

Wordcraft is an experimental system but the results look good. Interestingly, this Google artificial intelligence system was born on the basis of the Language Model for Conversational Applications (LaMDA), which one of the developers considered alive enough to have even hired a lawyer for her.
