Official Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro with Leica Summilux optics and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip

Today is the day long awaited by fans of Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics giant has indeed presented its new series of high-end smartphones: the series Xiaomi 14. The series consists of two models: lo Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Both models share some features in common, which distinguish them from other smartphones on the market. Let's see them in detail.

Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip

The Xiaomi 14 series is the first in the world to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chips, the most powerful and advanced processor ever made by Qualcomm. This chip was released recently at the Snapdragon Summit, where it amazed everyone with its performance and features.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chip is an octa-core processor based on the ARM architecture, with a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz. It has a next-generation Adreno GPU, which supports ray tracing and artificial intelligence. He also has one 5GB LPDDR16X memory and 3.1GB or 256GB UFS 512 flash storage.

The Xiaomi 14 series achieved a score of over 2 million on Antutu V10, the famous benchmark for measuring smartphone performance.

Another distinctive element of the Xiaomi 14 series is the screen, which uses a CSOT C8 panel, the result of the collaboration between Xiaomi and TCL CSOT.

The screen of the Xiaomi 14 series has a size of 6,36″ (1.5K resolution) for the basic model and 6,73″ for the Pro one (2K resolution), a support to dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz and maximum brightness of 3000nit. Furthermore, it supports continuous brightness adjustment (DC dimming) and has obtained triple certification from TÜV Rheinland for eye protection.

The display on the Xiaomi 14 series is capable of reproducing vivid and accurate colors, thanks to the 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and support for HDR10+. The screen also supports Dolby Vision, the advanced video format that offers greater image depth and detail.

Furthermore, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are also equipped with a fingerprint sensor under the screen, which allows quick and safe unlocking of the device.

Stylish Design

The Xiaomi 14 series also stands out for its elegant and refined design, which combines fine materials and refined finishes. The Xiaomi 14 series has a right-angle frame and the edges are of 1.61 mm mm on three sides, while the chin is 1.71 mm, thinner than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

The rear body of the Xiaomi 14 series is made of glass, with a matte finish that prevents fingerprints. The body houses the camera module, which has a square shape and protrudes slightly. The camera module has a metal frame and a Leica logo, reflecting the collaboration between Xiaomi and the famous photography brand.

The colors available for the Xiaomi 14 series are classic black and white, rock green with a smooth feel and snow pink made with a nano-technological material. The weight of the Xiaomi 14 series varies from 195 g to 205 g, depending on the model, while the thickness is 8.1 mm.

The Xiaomi 14 series is also a series that aims at professional level photography, thanks to the collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica, which led to the creation of the Leica Summilux optical lens. It is a lens that represents a turning point in mobile optics, capable of capturing and controlling light impeccably.

The series has a total of four cameras on the back. The main sensor has a size of 1/1.31 inch, with 1.2 μm single pixels and 2.4 μm fusion pixels. There resolution is 50MP, with optical image stabilizer (OIS) and a focal aperture of f/1.6 for the basic version and variable f/1.42 ~ f/4.0 for the Pro. The dynamic range is 13.5EV, capable of reproducing natural and detailed colors. The sensor uses dual native ISO Fusion Max technology to achieve native ultra-high dynamics.

The second sensor is a 75mm floating telephoto lens, having a 50MP resolution, a focal aperture of f/2.0 and an optical image stabilizer (OIS). This lens is ideal for portraits and close-ups, offering lossless optical zoom. The lens also has a large focus range from 10cm to infinity, allowing you to take macro photos.

The third sensor is a 16mm ultra-wide angle lens, and with a 50MP resolution, a focal aperture of f/2.2 and a viewing angle of 123 degrees. This lens is perfect for panoramic photos and wide scenes, capturing more visual information.

The Xiaomi 14 series also has one front camera from 20 MP, which supports portrait mode, beauty mode and HDR video mode.

HyperOS operating system

Finally, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are the first to be equipped with the operating system HyperOS, a “people-centered” system that creates a complete ecosystem for people, cars and homes. The system integrates the Linus operating system and the Vela software platform. The interconnection capability between terminals allows multiple devices to be dynamically connected and capabilities can be coordinated seamlessly.

As for the other specifications, the basic Xiaomi 14 integrates one battery 4650mAh and supports the 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The Pro model integrates a battery 4880mAh and supports the quick charge from 120W.

Both smartphones are IP68 certified, meaning waterproof and dustproof.
