According to the latest from China, a new smartphone Xiaomi with model number 24053PY09C has been certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Mysterious Xiaomi smartphone certified in China: is it the Civi 4?

Xiaomi Mi 4

The MIIT certification does not reveal many details about the device, but it confirms one crucial feature: support for 5G connectivity. If the guesses are correct and this device is indeed the Xiaomi Civi 4, the specs leaked so far are quite intriguing.

According to what is reported, the smartphone should boast a 1.5K flat display protected by 2.7D micro-curved glass, similar to the series Xiaomi 14. But the real novelty would be represented by the Leica co-branded cameras, led by a sensor from 50MP, which would mark the debut of the Leica brand on a smartphone not belonging to Xiaomi's main series.

Additionally, the phone is expected to feature a metal frame and glass back, which are typical features of high-end smartphones. We're talking about one battery exceeding 5,000mAh with support to quick charging, which could reach i 100W or even 120W.

Another detail that arouses interest is the hypothetical use of the Qualcomm SM8635 processor (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3), which is expected to be unveiled by Qualcomm on March 18, along with the SoC 7+ Gen 3. The timing of the MIIT certification therefore seems perfectly aligned with Qualcomm's announcement, suggesting that Xiaomi could be among the first to adopt the new Snapdragon SoC.

Although the launch date of the Xiaomi Civi 4 has not yet been confirmed, the forecasts indicate the month of May as a possible launch window. Its predecessor, the Xiaomi Civi 3, was released around the same time last year, standing out with its slim design and Dimensity 8200-Ultra processor. The Civi 4 seems to want to further raise the bar, aiming for a clear improvement in terms of power and photographic quality.

We await further developments and will be sure to provide updates as more information becomes available.
