From the ashes of the hard drives destroyed by Xiaomi comes Mitu, the brand's mascot

Not long ago we dealt with a very thorny issue concerning MIUI and privacy. The investigation that saw our badn accused of tracking data and keeping it on remote servers was raised by Forbes. In particular, it all started with an analyst who found evidence that the brand tracked the data. However, these data were also tracked in incognito mode. Obviously the brand has suffered answered properly denying the words of the newspaper. After some time, symbolically, Xiaomi destroyed data storage hard drives putting a point to the story. But something is born from these records, that is Mitu the bunny mascot.

After the privacy scandal Xiaomi destroyed the hard drives for data storage: from the residues Mitu was born, the furry bunny mascot of the brand

He makes this news known Cui Baoqiu, vice president of the Xiaomi group and president of the Xiaomi technical committee. This morning he posted images on his Weibo profile that immortalize a shimmering Mitu just "baked". This is the brand's mascot created by hard drive debris destroyed by Xiaomi following the privacy investigation. Now, we don't know precisely if the remnants are old hard drives or new ones: from what we understand from the vice president's message, it seems that destroying data has now become a practice, by virtue of the fact that the brand adheres to higher safety standards.

To give an example of the ways in which the MIUI 12 protects data there is the so-called "Hidden Mask". This feature provides users with a sort of empty pass, a virtual identity that “replaces us” thus preventing us from saving our sensitive data. We also remember that Xiaomi independently developed the MACE framework (Mobile AI Compute Engine), or an AI framework built specifically for mobile terminals. Thanks to it all data that is processed by our device is not sent to the cloud, but on site, i.e. offline on the terminal itself. In addition, the algorithm based on MACE will include "interference "when the data will be uploaded, so that no attacker can get hold of it.
