Xiaomi patents dual cameras in one notch at the bottom

The struggle for the highest screen-to-body ratio appears to have been won by the notch at the top of the screen. In fact, we see this design in practically all the 2018 and 2019 flagships, except for the latest Samsung S10 series with Infinity-O technology and devices with sliding mechanism such as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and Lenovo Z5 Pro. therefore ended in favor of the notch, the war is still far from over.

To upset this concept, our favorite Chinese company, Xiaomi, seems to try it with a really interesting design. As you can see in the images below, Xiaomi would have registered a patent in which the smartphone has a notch, but this time at the bottom of the screen.

Now you ask yourself, why move the notch down if it is still present at the end? Well, we could speculate that for Xiaomi the top of the screen is the most used and most important one, so having no interruptions is a better choice. After all, having the two cameras at the bottom would not "bother" anyone during normal use of the smartphone as they would not hide any notifications.

On the other hand, Xiaomi had already tried it with the first three devices of the MIX series, namely the MIX (1), MIX 2 and MIX 2S. Although many users got used to it, having the image sensor at the bottom meant having to rotate the smartphone to take a selfie, otherwise the proportions of the face are inaccurate or different from the usual.

However, the above is not the only patent presented by Xiaomi. A couple of days ago the Chinese giant presented a second one with this time the two cameras in the lower left and right corners. An even more particular design but that does not seem very innovative to us.

In any case, as almost always happens, the registration of a patent does not mean that Xiaomi is working on it. Many times companies register patents to make sure that in the future they have no problems producing devices with a similar design (if they decide to do so).

So we suggest all fans don't be alarmed, most likely we will never see a smartphone with the "nose-cam" (the camera that takes the nostrils) or with the two at the bottom sides. Or at least they could do it when via software it will be possible to take a picture with normal proportions without having to rotate the device.
