Xiaomi and Redmi may soon launch two smartphones with Exynos CPUs

Just the other day we published an article related to Shortage of Snapdragon 780G processors by Qualcomm, of which the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has cleaned up. It will perhaps be a coincidence, but here is again a news that had taken a voice towards the end of 2020, or of the fact that Samsung was negotiating with Xiaomi to purchase its processors.

Indeed it is from May 2020, the rumors that later turned out to be fake, which provided for the arrival on the scene of a hypothetical Mi 10E equipped with an Exynos chipset, a false news but which basically had a grain of truth or the idea that Xiaomi could turn to the Korean giant for the supply of processors, especially the Exynos 1080.

The Exynos 1080 is based on a 5nm production process with octa-core structure consisting of 4 Cortex-A78 cores and 4 Cortex-A55 cores and camera support up to 200 MP. The matched GPU is the Mali-G78 while if we talk about performance, a first AnTuTu benchmark revealed a score of 693600 points, thus exceeding the performance of the former high-end Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus. In short, a real monster to tame.

Xiaomi and Redmi may soon launch two smartphones with Exynos CPUs

The reality of seeing a smartphone of the Xiaomi or Redmi brand equipped with SoC Exynos 1080 is increasingly marked and in particular it should be a new device with the code name "orion" to lead the way in this adventure. Among the qualities of this processor there is also support for displays with 90 Hz refresh rate, ultrawide camera up to 50 MP and optical zoom up to 5X.

Exynos

This leads us to assume that Xiaomi and Redmi are preparing a device with top-of-the-range specifications but that could contain costs, perhaps rivaling the flagship killer Realm GT 5G. But why am I mentioning Redmi and Xiaomi if until now I have only talked about one device? In reality, another smartphone was found on the net, codenamed “lepsus” which will also be equipped with an Exynos 1080 CPU.

Ultimately, Xiaomi seems to want to follow in the footsteps of Vivo, another Chinese manufacturer that has already used Samsung's Exynos processors to bring some of its latest smartphones to life. On the other hand, if Qualcomm is unable to cope with the high demand for processors, it is better to keep more loopholes open.
