A load of ideas for folding Xiaomi, which one do you like best?

Just a few hours ago we saw the brand's patent which did not concern a smartphone, but rather a pair of Pamu Scroll headphones. But as we learned over the past year, 2021 will be the year dedicated to foldable smartphones. A recent leak in this regard tells us that Xiaomi will present three devices of this kind: one with opening inwards in Mate X style, one with outward opening and one of kind clamshell. We don't know in detail how they will be, but the CNIPA brings us other ideas.

As many as 6 Xiaomi folding smartphones have just been certified by the CNIPA: will the three 2021 devices be among them?

Today, the first of the year, was very profitable for Xiaomi as the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) accepted well 6 patents which show as many possible designs for foldable smartphones. Clearly this does not mean that the company will produce them all: quite the contrary, these they are just ideas which the company will draw on for the creation of its three devices. Therefore, the following are added to the already large number of patents presented.

First dual-screen clamshell smartphone

The first device is a clamshell one, i.e. with a design seashell. The front, where the screen is, is busy entirely from the display. This is obviously flat and on the inside there are no holes or notches. Its distinctive feature, in addition to the closure towards the inside, is that of having a back equipped with a mini displays: this is ideally suited to viewing notifications, time and incoming calls that we now normally see in the Always on Display. The back also accommodates a lot of cameras, we count at least 5, plus one or two LED flashes.

Second clamshell smartphone with double screen

This second patent shows a device with closing to the outside. There is a step in the upper part of the device that serves to collect and host the wing that closes. Just this step, in the front (therefore the one facing us) features front cameras. An evolution compared to the latest generation smartphones as we find three of them. Unlike the previous model, this smartphone has a single display that takes the entire front side, and continues for the posterior half. In the center a mechanism that will help the glass not to break during closing.

Xiaomi's first folding smartphone with booklet closure

Let's change gender now. The foldable smartphone is a hybrid if we want and this time it comes with a booklet lockable design. Much more sober than the devices seen above, this smartphone is equipped with a huge display that takes the entire front and continues halfway back. Here it is divided from the remaining half which houses the photographic sensors in a vertical module integrated into the body. A special feature is the physical button on the edge of the latter part of the device: it seems to be a sensor for unlocking, a little to the Xiaomi Mi 10T series.

Second folding device with booklet

I respect this patent there poco to say: it is a variant of the previous patent. To change is the photographic module formed by a single sensor, however huge.

In this case we move, even if of poco, from the last two designs just seen. A four-sensor photographic module emerges from the body it's a second physical key on the edge. In this case it is rear screen is separated from the front one and takes a strip of the body. Here too, as for the first patent, the display will be dedicated to notifications, time and call display.

A variant of the device just seen. To change is the photographic module which is hosted by a body strip mirror the second display, placed at its antipodes. This model is what I personally like the most as the strip that provides cameras is somewhat reminiscent of what is Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha.

Which of these devices would you like best?
